  • 4 tablespoons bacon fat
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples, cored and chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 hot pepper, chopped
  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Fried Cabbage with Apples Directions

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons bacon fat in large skillet over medium high heat. Fry apples in bacon fat for about 2-4 minutes. Apples should still be crisp.
  2. Add garlic cloves and hot pepper. Fry until garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add remaining bacon fat, cabbage, onion, salt and pepper to taste. Fry about 3-5 minutes or until the cabbage is the consistency you desire. I leave mine pretty crisp....the onion is also still crunchy.
